The Cancer Association of Botswana has coordinated several programs for the fight against cancer such as their awareness program, prevention and health promotions through talks, conferences, campaigns and the distribution of brochures and posters throughout the country.

They also have the care program through which the Tshiamo House provides temporary accommodation, medical care, and meals to patients while they are receiving treatment at Princess Marina and Gaborone Private Hospital. Cancer Association of Botswana also provides transportation for patients to go to the hospitals for treatment.

The Botswana Cancer Association has to it upon itself to help offer free confidential counseling to patients, family and friends. After-care is also offered to patients after returning to their respective homes through follow up telephone calls and home visits. A group of survivors get to visit cancer patients at their homes and provide them with emotional and spiritual support.  According to the Cancer Association director Mrs. Sharon Munyoro this allows for a process whereby cancer victims transform into cancer survivors through active, optimistic and healthy outlook and lifestyle.

The Cancer Association is also currently developing its recreational and occupational therapy and nutrition program.

Truly the Cancer Association Botswana is doing a tremendously remarkable job. Those who wish to contact the association at +267 393 2948 or visit them at their offices located at 5348, Ditlakore Way, Extension 12, Gaborone.
